'80s star Bonnie Tyler was recently hospitalized after undergoing emergency surgery in Portugal.
On Wednesday (May 6), a statement shared to the "Total Eclipse of the Heart" hitmaker's official website revealed the news to fans.
"We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery," it read.
Though the statement did not reveal details behind what prompted the surgery, it did provide an update on the musician's current condition.
"The surgery went well, and she is now recuperating," it continued. "We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery."
The "Holding Out for a Hero" singer has released 18 studio albums throughout her career. Her most recent album, The Best is Yet to Come, released in 2021.
In 2024, Tyler reflected on the legacy of her 1983 signature song, "Total Eclipse of the Heart," revealing she still gets excited when she hears it played increasingly during times of celestial events.
"Every time the eclipse comes, everyone all over the world, they play [it] and I never get tired of singing it," she told Good Morning America at the time.
