Fayette & Pickaway County Fairs Planning To Conduct Events

A couple of area county fairs have announced their intention to move forward with having their events this summer.

The Fayette County Fair Board says they intend to move forward with the junior fair, July 20-25th. Fair Board officials say they want to make sure junior exhibitors have the opportunity to have their projects judged. Fayette County Fair officials say there will be camping, but will see restrictions. The state has already announced that while its a local decision as to whether to have the fair, the fair still needs to abide by state health distancing guidelines.

A state order May 29th forbids amusement rides, even at fairs, at least until July 1st. Whether that will be extended through the month of July, will depend on if COVID-19 worsens through the summer.

The Pickaway County Fair Board says they will not cancel their June 20th-27th event, even though all miscellaneous/non-livestock judging has been rescheduled for July 15-17. The Pickaway Fair Board will vote on their final plan at the June 8th meeting at 7pm in Heritage Hall.

There has been no official word yet, on plans for the Ross County Fair in early August.

Highland County Fair's website still shows they are on for September 6th-12th.
