Hillsboro Dazzled by Chillicothe's Kam Smith in Loss

Chillicothe, going into their game with Hillsboro, had lost five of their first six games- averaging only eleven points per game. Nonetheless, the Cavaliers put together their most complete game of the year in a rousing win over the Indians by the final score of 49-6.

.

Chillicothe got an early touchdown in the first quarter by quarterback Kamron Smith to grab the lead. That score was answered by Hillsboro getting a fairly quick touchdown of their own to make it 7-6 (the Indians tried for two and failed to convert). That is the way the first period ended.....however, from that point forward the Cavaliers dominated with what virtually was "the Kamron Smith Show." Smith, starting in place of the injured Christian Benson, scored three more touchdowns running and one more by passing- making him an easy selection for player of the game.

.

It was a dazzling display of speed and athleticism that simply gave the Indians' defense fits. For example, Smith (in the second quarter) scored on runs of 50 and 15 yards to give CHS a commanding halftime lead of 21-6. From there, the Cavs iced the game with four touchdowns to win going away. Hillsboro was hurt by penalties and turnovers --- often giving Chillicothe excellent field position (which the Cavaliers used to their advantage).

.

Kam Smith scored four touchdowns and threw for another in the win. He also rushed for 133 yards on 15 carries. Mark Gallimore led Hillbsoro's ground game with 76 yards.

.

Chillicothe improves to (1-1/2-5) while Hillsboro is now (0-2/3-4). Next week the Indians will return home to face the Washington C H Blue Lions as conference play continues.
