Hinton Retires as HS Football Coach

The word that legendary local high school football coach Ron Hinton would retire from coaching, is now official.

A press release issued by the Chillicothe High School Athletic Department confirms what was being speculated since the end of the season. The fifth winningest coach in OHSAA history hinted at this possibility during the Cavs season-ending awards banquet, where he concluded his 9th season at Chillicothe.

Ron Hinton  won 344 career games in head coaching stints at Piketon, Amanda Clearcreek and Chillicothe. He won two state titles at Amanda and had three state runner-up finishes.

Hinton led the Cavs to six straight winning seasons, four playoff berths and one FAC Crown.

A recognition ceremony will be held for Ron Hinton, this spring.
