Democratic Candidate for Governor Visits Chillicothe

The Democratic candidate for governor of Ohio visited Chillicothe Wednesday, and Kevin Coleman was there.

Nan Whaley focused on her "One Good Jobs Pledge" of $65,000,000 in apprenticeship readiness programs to build broadband, roads, and bridges with Ohio workers.

She said 20,000 workers are needed in the state, but Republican Governor Mike DeWine is drawing workers from out-of-state - which means their salaries won't stay here.

She said her One Good Jobs Pledge also factors into her "Southern Ohio Plan" to invest in broadband to make it affordable and everywhere by 2028.

Whaley also says she wants to see investment in veterans, including more than just the two retirement facilities in Georgetown and Sandusky - and also investment in mental health and addiction services.

Whaley held a short roundtable chat with Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney, and about 15 others, at the United Steelworkers Hall on the Carlisle Hilltop.

Hear Kevin's interview with Whaley below. Kevin Coleman covers local government and culture.
