Friday's Ross County Grand Jury: Gun Tossed Out During Traffic Stop

The Ross County Grand Jury returned 11 of their 12 cases Friday, with one open.

According to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, on November 25th, 22-year-old Shawn E. Pollard Jr. of Chillicothe was pulled over for doing 59 in a 45-mile-an-hour area on Upper Twin Road near US 50.

The trooper saw the driver's hands outside the window before he stopped, and noticed he had bloodshot, glassy eyes.

The magazine of a pistol was in his pocket, but no firearm on his person. He admitted to having drunk three twisted teas, but denied having a gun...though passengers said he had thrown one out.

The trooper found a loaded handgun in front of the stopped car, and the driver then admitted to not only throwing the gun, but shooting the ground in Waverly.

Pollard was indicted for fourth degree felony improper handling of a firearm, and two misdemeanor counts of DUI. He could get up to two years and $6,000 in fines.
