On Sunday, September 20th at 5:27 a.m. deputies from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of a one vehicle injury crash on the US35 EB exit to Palmer Road. A 2017 GMC Savana Box Van, operated by Donald Francis age 38 of Oregonia, OH, was traveling eastbound on the exit ramp when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop for the stop sign at Palmer Road, swerved to the right, entering into the ditch at the intersection of Palmer Rd and the US 35 EB on ramp. The vehicle continued into the ditch, striking the embankment before rotating clockwise and overturning onto its side.

Upon arrival, deputies located Mr. Francis trapped in the vehicle. Deputies and fire personnel were able to extricate Mr Francis from the vehicle. Once removed from the vehicle, care was turned over to Fayette County EMS members. Mr. Francis was pronounced deceased following arrival at Fayette County Memorial Hospital. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.

Responding agencies: Fayette County EMS, Washington Court House Fire Department, Sheriff’s Rescue, Ohio State Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement Unit, and Parrish Towing. MedFlight responded to Fayette County ER where they also assisted in life saving efforts, however, Mr. Francis was pronounced deceased before transport could be completed.
