Lady Panthers Win Big Over Jackson


The Miami Trace Lady Panthers cruised to victory Saturday night with a 52-11 victory over the Jackson Ironladies.


The Panthers did it with defense as they forced Jackson into 11 first quarter turnovers which they converted into 23 points to take a 23-1 lead after one quarter. Neither team did much scoring in the second quarter with coach Ben Ackley going to his bench. Each team scored four points in the quarter but Miami Trace took a 27-5 lead into the half.


With their starters back on the court to start the third quarter, the Panthers did exactly what they did in the first by using their defense to create offense. Three straight turnovers turned into six quick points by Olivia Wolffe and the Panthers were running again. Miami Trace outscored Jackson 21-2 in the third to take a 48-7 lead after three quarters. The final quarter was played even, with each team scoring four points. Miami Trace won 52-11.


On the night Miami Trace (4-2) shot 36%, going 21-58 from the field including 4-16 from three point range. They committed only 11 turnovers and pulled down 32 rebounds. The Panthers were led in scoring by sophomore Gracee Stewart who had 14 points followed by senior Olivia Wolffe's 13.


Jackson (1-4) finished the night shooting 4-35 for 11%, and were 0-14 from behind the arc. They committed 24 turnovers and pulled down 17 rebounds. They were led in scoring by Kaitlynn Webb's 4 points.
