Holmes Elementary Briefly Locked Down

Holmes Elementary School in the Wilmington school district report they were briefly in lock-down this Friday morning because of a report from a parent that he could not find a firearm.  Police were immediately contacted and on the scene.


The lockdown was lifted within twenty minutes, after law enforcement assisted the parent in locating the firearm at his residence.  During this time, students remained in classrooms with their teachers and continued normal activities.


While the misplaced firearm was never on school property, the school district reports it is always their priority to take every necessary precaution to ensure the safety of both students and staff.
